This puppetry, dance and spoken word piece explores a daughter’s relationship to her father’s work and builds upon a premise that puppets are containers of memory. In it, a daughter explores what it means to slip into her father’s art – not just the form, but also the actual pieces.

The Green Mountain Conservancy has signed a Purchase and Sale Agreement to acquire and conserve 636 acres of wild land in Newfane and Brookline. This land abuts the first 287 acres conserved as part of the Deer Run Nature Preserve in Dummerston and Brookline.
These 626-acres of forestland and ridgeline comprise the southern terminus of the Putney Mountain Ridge, contiguous to 287 acres the GMC has already conserved. The Phase II property rises from 360 feet above sea level at the West River shoreline to 1,460 feet at its highest point. The terrain varies from the flat fields to steep slopes, plateaus and overlooks.
The Brattleboro Selectboard decided Tuesday night to enter into an opioid lawsuit similar to the one that Bennington is undertaking. With strict warnings that local pharmacies could be added in the future if anything notable arises, the board decided not to sue local pharmacies for now.
SeVEDS gave an account of their work year and asked for their annual contribution from Brattleboro, big projects are planned at Living Memorial Park, yes we’re getting another new fire truck, the police have requested some hybrid vehicles for the first time, and the first local option sales taxes shows that things cost about $200,000 more in Brattleboro than in surrounding communities for the first quarter reported.

SAXTONS RIVER, Vt. – Cellist Eugene Friesen and singer/songwriter Elizabeth Rogers will bring in the holiday season at Main Street Arts with a CD-release concert Saturday, Nov. 30 at 7:30 p.m.
The duo will bring a soulful collaboration to a repertoire of Celtic-infused holiday songs and instrumentals from their new recording “Down in Yon Forest,” featuring such classics as “The Ivy and the Holly,” “I Wonder as I Wander” and less well known songs of the season.
Next Stage Arts Project and the Putney Historical Society present filmmaker Mike Leonard and his delightful documentary “One Town at a Time” on Thursday, November 21 at 7:00 pm. The film explores and celebrates the great state of Vermont one town at a time, and is part of the monthly Next Stage [FRAMED] hosted film series. Mike will lead a Q&A session following the film.
In 2006, during a summer between semesters at college, director Mike Leonard took on the challenge of visiting every town in the state of Vermont by joining the 251 Club – a unique organization dedicated to exploring The Green Mountain State.

Absentee ballots are currently available at the Town Clerk’s Office and may be requested until 5:00 pm on Monday, November 18th. The Heather Pierson Acoustic Trio burst into the national folk scene with their 2015 EP, Still She Will Fly, and the title track was that year’s #2 single on folk radio. Their 2017 CD, Singin’, debuted at #1 and was the #11 folk charting album of the year. Heather’s new solo album, Lines and Spaces, came out this month and is her twelfth CD release.
The trio will bring their “traveling music store” of instruments — piano, acoustic guitar, tenor banjo, ukulele, melodica, cornet, dobro, fiddle, mandolin, bass, and maybe more — to Stage 33 Live in a special 2:00 PM matinee performance on November 24. Local up-and-comer Emily Lyons will open.
On Friday, Nov. 22, at 7:30 pm, in the parlor of the Centre Congregational Church, 193 Main St. in Brattleboro, Windham World Affairs Council will present “Movement Of People: Trafficking and Migrating in Southeast Asia Today.” The Speaker will be Braema Mathi, a Singapore-based human rights activist who is currently in the Global Fellows program at Keene State College, sponsored by the Auschwitz Institute for Peace and Reconciliation.
The talk will be free and open to the public. There will be coffee, tea and conversation from 7:00 and the talk will begin at 7:30.
BRATTLEBORO, VT—Brattleboro’s Seasonal Overflow Shelter (SOS) will open Monday, November 18th. After a successful first and second season located at the upper dormitory on the Winston Prouty campus (formerly the Austine School for the Deaf), Groundworks’ staff and Board are grateful for the opportunity to return to the space for a third year.
This year’s shelter will operate the same as prior years at this location: anyone seeking shelter will have to register for a bed through Groundworks Drop-In Center (at 60 South Main Street) between 9am and noon. Access to the shelter will only be permitted through transportation provided by Groundworks.
It is a night for lawyers at the next regular meeting of the Brattleboro Selectboard. They plan to enter into one or more opioid-related lawsuits, settle a lawsuit with Penny Witherbee, and even start off the night with an executive session that has additional pending or probable civil litigation.
