Construction Update Brattleboro-Hinsdale Bridge – December 6, 2024

The new bridge for New Hampshire/Vermont Route 119 is now open. Motorists should use caution while navigating the new traffic pattern. Pedestrians should continue to use existing accommodations on the old bridges as the new bridge will remained closed to pedestrians until Spring of 2025.

On days when the weather is good enough to work on the bridge deck, crews will be working under a shoulder closure. Otherwise, no interruptions to NH/VT 119 and Vermont Route 142 traffic are planned for next week.

United States Senator Bernie Sanders and U.S. Senator Peter Welch and Congressperson Becca Balint are showing total disrespect for Rockingham, Vermont people in Windham County including the village of Bellows Falls, most of whom are just regular hard working Vermonters living in a typical small town in southeastern Vermont along the Connecticut River who definitely need a local health care clinic!

Ding made a series of mistakes that led to Gukesh forming quite the threat with his queenside pawns.  A massive change of fortune came when Black failed to push his outside pawn leading to a White advantage that in turn dissipated right after the first time control was met.

Brattleboro – Hinsdale Bridge Opening Today

The new bridge for New Hampshire/Vermont Route 119 will open to motor vehicle traffic around 2:00 p.m. today!

Due to inclement weather forecasted for tomorrow, the bridge is scheduled to be open by 2:00 p.m. today. Crews are currently working on eradicating the permanent pavement markings that need to be removed and re-striping on the New Hampshire side.

Brattleboro-Hinsdale Bridge Opening Final Reminder

Motorists should watch for message boards throughout the area indicating the new bridge is open.

A new traffic pattern is scheduled to be in place in Brattleboro by the end of the day Thursday, December 5th. Barricades will be set up on Bridge Street to encourage local traffic only. Eastbound travelers to VT/NH 119 will need to turn onto Vermont Route 142 (Vernon Street) and access the new bridge at the new signalized intersection. Westbound traffic on VT/NH 119 will need to turn onto VT 142 north to proceed to U.S. Route 5 (Canal Street).

November Precipitation 2024

Dryness has abated somewhat with 2 larger storms in the past 10 days.  Precipitation for the month measured 3.01″  compared to the normal of 3.53″.  The second storm included snow for many including here with 4.3″ and more at higher elevations.  My November snow average going back to 1993-94 is 2.8″.  There have been 5 years with 10 or more inches in November over that time period.

For the calendar year my total stands at 41.68 inches compared to the norm of 43.24″.  One month to go.  All numbers are from my location in the SE corner of Brattleboro.
