Nasty Behaviour

To the woman in front of me, with what appeared to be her partner and two daughters on the Edible Brattleboro farmstand line this morning: Your gratuitous nastiness was not appreciated. It looks like you wished to pass on ugliness to the world. Insulting and unkind behaviour is not in the spirit of the gift/sharing economy.

Brattleboro August 2022 EMS Update

Per the request of the Brattleboro Selectboard, I am to provide a monthly EMS update relative to the operations and any pertinent data collected. The last update was provided on July 19, 2022. This update is representative of that date till the date written on August 9, 2022.

Since July 1, 2022, the Brattleboro Fire Department (BFD) has responded to 313 EMS calls and 132 fire- related emergencies. On August 2, 2022, the BFD answered an astonishing 28 calls for service. 21 of those emergencies were EMS calls and 2 of the 28 were working fires in the Town of Hinsdale NH. To this date, no mutual aid has been requested into the Town of Brattleboro by the BFD.

Lipstick on a Pig

The legislation just passed by the Senate, the Inflation Reduction Act, has been sold by Democrats as something that will save seniors a lot of money for prescription drugs. They are all puffed up about how the Medicare program will finally be able to negotiate drug prices with pharmaceutical manufacturers. It is too little too late and worse than putting lipstick on a pig.

Forty nine million Medicare beneficiaries have bought into the flawed Medicare D program that provides coverage for prescription drugs. The program was created to support the drug and insurance industries. Medicare is only a middleman because enrollees have to pay premiums to insurance companies just for the privilege of being able to buy drugs at outrageous prices.

If someone does not sign up for the program as they initially enroll in Medicare they are forced to pay a penalty. There are many other punitive aspects to the program but, for some people who take more than five or six medications daily, it may save them a little money.

Guilford Chamber Singers Seeking Singers for Christmas Concert

The Guilford Chamber Singers, under the auspices of Friends of Music at Guilford (FOMAG), is seeking to reconstitute for their traditional concert of Christmas music the second weekend of December. Covid 19 has prevented us from performing since 2019.

All voices are welcome for singers with choral experience. Repertoire will be quite varied, from traditional to modern settings. Rehearsals will be weekly starting in September, masked, on an evening convenient to the singers; in the past, it has been on Monday evenings, but we will explore other possibilities as we recruit.

The Nov. 8, 2022 Ballot is Getting Crowded! There Will Be 5 (FIVE!) Independent Candidates for U.S. Senator!

Hello! I’m Cris Ericson and I am one of the 5 (FIVE!!!) INDEPENDENT candidates on the Nov. 8, 2022 ballot for U.S. Senator. It’s starting to look like the independent movement is very popular in Vermont!

I do want to report, because I mentioned this previously, that my first cousin’s son was on the ballot in Missouri, and now I am terribly sad to report that the Press reported that the richest candidate won the Democrat primary for U.S. Senator there. The richest Democrat candidate, Trudy Busch Valentine, heiress to megal millions from the Busch empire, didn’t bother to file until the last filing date, and waltzed in and started spreading her cash around Missouri. Lucas Kunce had been campaigning for a whole year, a nice guy, a U.S. Marine for 13 years, Major, JAG Officer, law degree in International Law, worked with the Pentagon, was exposed to burn pits, AND HE WAS ENDORSED BY U.S. SENATOR BERNIE SANDERS OF VERMONT.
