Emerald ash borer (EAB) is a destructive and invasive forest pest that feeds on all species of ash trees in North America. Over 99% of ash trees will likely succumb to EAB and die. With EAB confirmed recently in Windham and Bennington Counties (Londonderry and Stamford, VT), communities in the region are encouraged to prepare for the impacts of the pest. Windham Regional Commission, in coordination with the Vermont Urban & Community Forestry Program will hold a Emerald Ash Borer Prepardness & Management Workshop on January 29, 2020 from 4:30 to 6:30pm at the Newbrook Fire & Rescue Community Room at 698 VT Route 30, Newfane, VT.
As I move into my 70’s there is a part of me that still feels like a small child who refuses to become an adult. I think there are many people who hold on to that part of themselves throughout their lives. If we do not keep some part of that past life alive in us we run the risk of losing an essential attitude toward daily life that makes sure we do not take things too seriously.
As we age we try to learn things that allow us to cultivate some degree of wisdom. Some of us do a better job than others, but we all have the potential for becoming wise. I’m not really sure what wisdom is, but when you can learn from your mistakes and figure out how to do things better as the years progress that is some kind of wisdom.

“Drastic Measures” is an animated cartoon of an elementary school band class in which our first triangle player gets bored with endless measures of rests and dreams of becoming a professional jazz funk musician, despite the continued distractions of triangles everywhere.

Starting January 7, Youth Services will host a weekly drop-in dinner for older youth, ages 16-24 in the greater Brattleboro community, at the new Snow Block Community Room, at 29 Flat St., from 6-8 p.m. every Wednesday.
At the drop-in dinner, area youth are welcome to come by for a free meal, meet with and socialize with other youth and meet Youth Services staff. Occasional workshops, activities and other projects may be offered in the future, based on feedback from attendees.
An electronic music performance series celebrating synthesizers, circuit-bending, and sound manipulation on the second Saturdays of January through April at Stage 33 Live in Bellows Falls. Each session hosts up to five acts for individual performances followed by a group improvisation. Players will be in the center of the room, with the audience in the round. Sounds are expected to range from cinematic and lush to computeresque and urgent.
The series dates are January 11, February 8, March 14, and April 11, 7:00 PM at Stage 33 Live, 33 Bridge Street in Bellows Falls, Vermont. Suggested $5 donation at the door.

Drug-running has been fundamental to CIA operations, strategy and funding throughout its history. The US Senate Kerry Committee Report of 1989 detailed CIA drug-running through the 1980s to fund terrorist wars in Nicaragua, Guatemala and El Salvador. Professor Alfred McCoy, University of Wisconsin, and Professor Peter Dale Scott, Emeritus University of California, have written extensive histories of CIA drug-running from its inception in 1947 to the present. The facts are known and so little regarded. This presentation will review CIA drug operations to ponder why the facts matter and are simultaneously ignored.

How many Democratic Party candidates for President of the United States of America are now complaining about being excluded from political candidate debates which are partly funded by PBS, which receives federal tax dollars, and therefore should not exclude any candidate from debates?
I want all Democratic Party candidates for President of the United States of America to sit up and pay attention because you know that PBS is constantly asking for viewer donations, and you know that PBS contributes to the manipulation of the criteria for debate participation, so ask yourselves, how many of their donations are from foreigners, and how much influence do the foreigners have in the manipulation of criteria for debate participation? Isn’t that foreign influence in our elections if that is what is going on, even if it is a small part?
