Missing Cat – Oak Street Area

My beloved Maine Coon cat, Sava, and has been missing from my Oak Street apartment since Wednesday evening. Thought he was just hiding- he was stressed out from a vet visit. We have torn the house, attic and neighboring yards apart with no sight of him.

He is big- 19 lbs. Grey, black and tan. He has a “lion cut”. Not an outdoor cat so he will be terrified and possibly aggressive.

If you see him – alive or not- please call me at 802- 258 8581. We are heartbroken. Thank you.

Kris Alden

Departing from BMH’s tradition of naming one employee for the honor each year, two employees were named for 2015. According to Gordon, “Their nominations from colleagues described qualities we all appreciate in our co-workers and to which we should aspire ourselves,”

Described as “positive, helpful, knowledgeable, dedicated, caring and skilled,” the two award winners were celebrated for their commitment to patient care and exceptional standards of professionalism.

Galactic Orgy – The Soup of Life

Unbeknownst to science until relatively recently, the ingredients for making the soup of life were brewed elsewhere, not here on Earth. In the beginning of our solar system this “third rock from the sun” was not yet claimed by all living things. It was barren and in upheaval, withstanding violent geologic forces that evolved from a gaseous formation which struggled to solidify itself. Of all the planetary ‘bodies’ in due course that locked into orbital patterns around the immense gravity of the sun, this crusty, molten body assumed a special place in its elliptical orbital radius around this new sun and its recent origin of a complement of planetary complexes.

Selectboard Meeting Notes: Our Town, and Plethora of Planning

Issues of planning dominated the regular Tuesday meeting of the Selectboard. The Our Town Arts grant took a step forward, new design and building standards were presented, an EPA grant was awarded to the Planning Services department, and a revised Town Plan was approved.

The Town also bought a car, signed a letter of agreement with Entergy, and learned that Pay As You Throw has been planned well and is coming soon.

Fire!

From the fire, I learned what cops are made of. I learned what panic can do. And I learned that cats really do have nine lives.

The building was renovated: a 6 floor walk-up, a bit too fancy to be called a NYC tenement. Our apartment was on the fifth. On each floor, were two railroad flats running from front to back on either side of the staircase. When I smelled the smoke, I went out into the hall to investigate.

Half of Older Households Have No Retirement Savings

Sanders Cites GAO Study in Push to Expand Social Security

WASHINGTON, June 2 – A new study prepared for Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) found that more than half of all American households with someone 55 or older have no retirement savings.

The study was requested by Sanders, the lead sponsor of legislation to increase Social Security benefits.

“This report makes it clear that there is a retirement crisis in America today. At a time when half of all older workers have no retirement savings, we need to expand, not cut, Social Security benefits so that every American can retire with dignity,” Sanders said.
