The third installment of the 2019 Real Estate and Personal Property Taxes will be due on February 18th, 2020. Payments made after February 18th, 2020 will have an additional 1% interest added to the unpaid balance.
The utility billing is also due on February 18th, 2020. Payments made after February 19th, 2020 will have an additional 1% interest, as well as an 8% penalty added to the unpaid balance.
Intoximeters, a manufacturer of breathalyzers used in Vermont, is under criminal investigation in Michigan.
Captain Mark Carignan of the Brattleboro Police confirmed that Brattleboro uses this brand of breathalyzer, and that the use of the machine if coordinated by the state forensic laboratory.

Tell everyone a bit about yourself… who are you?
Like many people around here, I wear a few different hats. Obviously, one of these is my Selectboard hat. I hope to earn the voters’ trust to wear it for another year. I have two jobs – I work for SEVCA and help people keep their lights on and homes heated through our crisis fuel program and I work as a community organizer in southern Vermont for Vermont Interfaith Action. I also wear my community radio hat. I’m currently the president of the WVEW 107.7 FM board and also host a weekly show playing new alternative music called ‘Brand Spanking New’ (Thurs, 6 to 8 pm). When I’m not doing one of those things I’m probably either hanging out with my wife, eating sandwiches at Amy’s, playing tennis or reading and drinking warm beverages.
Broad Brook Grange will hold its annual Pre-Town Meeting on Thursday, February 13, 7:00 pm at the Broad Brook Community Center.
This is the only opportunity for voters to hear details of the articles which will be presented at Town Meeting, and to meet and discuss issues with the selectboard in advance of Town Meeting.

About a dozen years ago, I chose Brattleboro, together with my family, my Mother-in-Law, our jobs, and our whole lives– we moved to Brattleboro, where our youngest daughter attended BUHS. This move, after many years of visiting family in Brattleboro, was a happy choice. My husband and I both started small businesses. I own a planning and environmental consultancy business. I volunteered for a number of Town and civic committees, most notably: the Planning Commission, The RTM Finance Committee, BASIC, the Skatepark Committee, and the Empty Bowls Dinner Committee.
My Selectboard service is an outgrowth of the understanding I gained participating and contributing to these civic committees.

The Windham Southeast School District (“WSESD”) school board will host a forum with candidates running for school board on Tuesday, February 11th, 2020, at 6pm, in the Multipurpose Room at Brattleboro Area Middle School (BAMS). BAMS is located at 109 Sunny Acres Road, Brattleboro. Enter via the main entrance and proceed straight ahead.
The Brattleboro Representative Finance Committee will meet on Monday, February 10, 2020 at 5:00pm in the Mezzanine Meeting Room at Brooks Memorial Library.
The Brattleboro ADA Advisory Committee will meet on February 14, 2020, at 9:00am in the Hanna Cosman Meeting Room at the Municipal Center.
How did we fix it so all these things happened at the same time? What were we thinking when we scheduled Brexit, Impeachment wrap-up, Iowa Caucus debacle, and Trump’s State of the Union address within 5 days of each other? Are we insane? Do we want our heads to explode?

The River Gallery School of Art has received funding from The Wolf Kahn and Emily Mason Foundation, The Vermont Community Foundation, Ben & Jerry’s Foundation, The Anne Slade Frey Fund, and the Windham Foundation to continue their Art for Social Change Program. The program, which started in 2019 focuses on the healing aspects of art and mindfulness for marginalized populations, community caregivers and the general public. The emphasis of these classes, offered free of charge, is not on art technique but offering an opportunity to play with art materials in a relaxed, supportive environment.
When a criminal is acquitted of crimes, not because of innocence but because the legal system failed to do its job, it means that bad behavior has been rewarded. The U.S. Senate impeachment process (fake trial) has been a display of some of the most rotten aspects of a political and legal system in an advanced state of decay.
