It Is Below Freezing Oct. 10, 2025 Where Are Homeless VT Babies Tonight?

A homeless unsheltered Vermont baby left outside in the cruel cold of 31°F or colder weather can die from hypothermia in as little as 15 to 45 minutes. Infants and young children are particularly vulnerable to hypothermia because they lose heat more quickly than adults and have less body mass.

Couldn’t we charge Governor Phil Scott and the entire Vermont legislature with negligent homicide or something?

Bus Drivers Update: Lockout Ended

Recently I posted about joining me at the picket this week with the school bus drivers and monitors. Based on news on Monday, it sounds we can hold off on the picket for the moment. The Brattleboro Reformer has reported that the lockout of the bus drivers and monitors has been dropped, and that they are allowed back to work! This is good news for children and families who will see their regular drivers who know the bus routes. And it’s good for the drivers who can return to work while contract negotiations resume!

Join Us At The Picket: Support Our School Bus Drivers!

Happy Labor Day! As billionaires try to take over our country, this is a critical moment to stand with working people. Will you join us this week to stand with our school bus drivers and monitors? I’ll be there Tuesday, September 2, outside Brattleboro Union High School at 7:30am.

Kuzmeskus, which is owned by an out-of-state private-equity firm, has locked out school bus drivers and monitors for the Windham Southeast district. It has been chaos for students and families, with scab drivers who don’t know our community or our streets. Teamsters Local 597 and community supporters are picketing to get Kuzmeskus to go back to the table, stop the lockout, and get our bus drivers back to work. I’ll be there bright and early Tuesday morning. Will you join us?

Guilford Church Embraces ‘A Joyful Path’ Curriculum for Sunday School in September

The Sunday School at Guilford Community Church on September 7 will resume the curriculum of the ‘A Joyful Path” in which spiritual lessons for children kindergarten through 6th grade are both heart-centered and experiential, according to Sue Owings, chair of the church’s Christian Education committee.

Owings explained that this curriculum was chosen for many reasons, not the least of which was for its integrated approach to every lesson. “Children will listen to oral stories, reflect on their impressions as a group, and create projects that relate to the spiritual theme of the day,” Owings stated.

Israelis Continue to Kill Thousands of Children Unaware The Dead Children Have Come To Be Their Own

There is a universal principle of humanity that transcends religious and sociopolitical boundaries, emphasising the protection and care of children as a fundamental responsibility shared by all of humanity. This principle is rooted in the recognition of children’s vulnerability and their inherent right to safety, security, and the opportunity to grow and thrive.

Universal Empathy: The instinct to protect children is deeply embedded in human empathy. People across the world, regardless of their background, tend to respond with concern and a desire to help when they see children in danger or distress.

Attorney General Donovan Sues Clearview AI for Violations of Consumer Protection Act and Data Broker Law

Attorney General Donovan filed a lawsuit today against Clearview AI, a data broker that uses facial recognition technology to map the faces of Vermonters, including children, and sells access to this data to private businesses, individuals, and law enforcement. The complaint, filed in Chittenden Superior Court – Civil Division, alleges violations of the Vermont Consumer Protection Act and the new Data Broker Law. Along with the complaint, the State filed a motion for preliminary injunction, asking the Court to order Clearview AI to immediately stop collecting or storing Vermonters’ photos and facial recognition data.

Brattleboro Town School Budget & Chair Resignation

To Brattleboro Town Meeting Reps & those who have expressed a special concern about education:

I write to officially inform you all that I am resigning my position on the board, effective immediately.

My primary concern is—as always—our students’ education.  I have grave concerns about the actions taken at last week’s attempt at the transitional board meeting.  I do not see how it is possible to serve our students, and to continue to be in full compliance with the law.
