‘Tarot as a Metaphysical Tool for Personal Development Not a Parlor Game’

For many of us our initial exposure to Tarot Cards and Tarot Readings is one of fortune tellers and carnivals; mysterious, shadowy foretelling of things to come be they pleasant or unpleasant. Those who read Tarot Cards are portrayed in the movies as the person who predicts the future or events that haven’t happened yet.

It is rare to experience Tarot as a metaphysical tool for understanding our life path more deeply, a navigational map for moving forward or the sacred sciences it embraces i.e. numerology, sacred geometry, karmic patterns, 5 element principles and a guide to our Higher or Lower roads of Consciousness and personal development.

Essential Information: Brattleboro Food Co-op and Covid-19

The Brattleboro Food Co-op is well considered an essential local business and is open for business with limited hours and curbside pickup for groceries, sundries, fresh and frozen foods, wellness supplies, and more during this Covid-19 epidemic.

As a central local business focused on food and health, the Co-op feels it is important everyone in the Bratt community knows the Co-op is making every effort to keep its staff and customers safe and comfortable during this crisis. The store hours have changed temporarily to 2pm-7pm daily so customers can come into the Co-op to do their own shopping. The Co-op has also created a Curbside Pickup service for those who are compromised and don’t want to go into the store. Customers can call the Curbside Hotline at 802-246-2800 to place an order for pick up curbside either that same day or the next day.

Give the Gift of Art at The Drawing Studio

Good morning everyone

The Winter/Spring schedule is now up on our website and enrollment is open for classes and workshops this Season. Give a gift of Art to someone you love. We now have gift certificates for the new year. www.vermontdrawingstudio.com

Here is some of what is on offer in January at The Drawing Studio:

A Drawing Season

We have 5 spots left in A Drawing Season, a “low-residency” drawing study from January to March 2019. With a mix of private lessons, small group workshops and in-studio drawing time you can re-learn drawing as a natural and connective activity. Children draw and are world makers when they do. As adults we, semi-consciously, agree to draw what something looks like rather than our experience of it. They are not the same thing!

These are some of the ways you can join us at The Drawing Studio.

Color and Painting Workshop

Join us for a week at The Drawing Studio in Brattleboro and learn about yourself as a painter. We will explore color mixing, light, materials, composition and creativity in a clear and integrated way. During our lunch breaks, we will look at painters from art history who loved what we will be learning about.
For absolute beginners or painters looking to revisit the fundamentals in an inspiring and whole-hearted way.

Drawing Studio Summer Schedule

The Drawing Studio in Brattleboro is offering a variety of creative opportunities this Summer; classes in Life Drawing, Drawing Basics and an immersive weeklong workshop in Color and Painting.  There are also weekly drop-in life drawing sessions and Open Studio hours for independent and guided work.  Jason Alden is a skilled and attentive instructor who will meet you at any level of experience, from absolute beginner to long-time painter.

Spring Drawing Workshop at The Drawing Studio (May 5th and 6th)

This weekend workshop will help you to draw anywhere you are with more curiosity and enjoyment. The world and nature are in constant communication with us. There are ways of seeing and drawing that can move this communication into a conversation. When we see something not only as its object name i.e. brook, but also as it’s qualities, flowing, cold, reflective, dark, murmuring, the brook becomes fuller, more dimensional and we have many more ways to creatively interact with it. Also, our drawings become more personal and particular to our senses and our experience of things.
