users are being hit with what appears to be an email scam know as “phishing” in which a scammer tries to get you to give up your email address and account information. I’ve gotten a few of these in the past couple of days.
The email says:
Film: The Invisible War, Wednesday April 17, 2013, 6:30 PM until 8:30 PM
On Wednesday, April 17, at 6:30 PM, the Womens’ Freedom Center will present a screening and discussion of The Invisible War.
Anna Mullany of the WFC will lead the discussion.
The Invisible War is a 2012 documentary film written and directed by Kirby Dick and produced by Amy Ziering and Tanner King Barklow about sexual assault in the United States military. It premiered at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival, where it received the U.S. Documentary Audience Award. The film is nominated for Best Documentary Feature at the 85th Academy Awards.
Lacking two members, the Brattleboro Selectboard took up a relatively light agenda in their absence. A liquor license was approved for The Tavern, Selectboard goals were approved, and new members were appointed to town committees.
Town Manager Barb Sondag took advantage of the reduced work load for the meeting and took time to educate new board members, and the public, about budgets, committees, and other various reports that Selectboard members receive.
The class was short but informative, and the meeting’s business was done within an hour.

Two clever servants trick two rich and gullible fathers out of their millions and arrange for their sons to marry two mysterious women whom the fathers detest! NEYT graduating seniors Henry Weisel and Alec Silver will be featured as the two servants, Scapin and Sylvester, who get themselves into the wildest and most ridiculous scrapes.
The Town is planning to install new sidewalks on the east side of main Street, starting at the Gilbert Memorial Bridge and continuing north to Walnut Street. Some sections of this sidewalk were recently replaced as part of a VTrans project.
The Downtown Sidewalk Project will replace the sections that have not yet been upgraded. The project is intended to improve safety for pedestrians and create a more attractive Main Street.
We invite you as a resident of Brattleboro, property owner, or business owner along the Downtown Sidewalk Project route to attend a public meeting on April 25, 2013 at 6:00 pm in the Selectboard Meeting Room at the Municipal Center located at 230 Main Street.

Reports are coming out about a pair of explosions rocking the finish line area of the Boston Marathon. We’ll have to wait to know more of what happened.
When I was a kid, we happened to be visiting in Boston the day of the Marathon. It was easy to get near the finish line and watch the runners cross it.

Brattleboro Memorial Hospital Rehabilitation Services will offer its seven week course “Standing Tall Spine Health: Level 1” beginning Monday, April 29 at 4:00 PM in the BMH Exercise Room.
The program is designed for individuals diagnosed with osteopenia or osteoporosis, or those at risk for low bone mass. Each class consists of a brief educational session followed by guided exercise. Education topics include instruction in safe movement for fracture prevention, strength and flexibility exercises for improved body alignment, and nutrition for bone health.
