Only Three “Little Free Libraries” Left for Sale and Raffle
There are now only two “Little Free Libraries” remaining for sale and one to be raffled to benefit the Friends of Brooks Memorial Library.
The libraries are all hand-built by the Brattleboro Rotary Club’s Literacy Project Committee and painted by local artists Robert Craig Aldrich, Bob Cincotta, Pat Little, John McCarthy, Susan Rosano, Kim Stice and Suzy Worden.

Do we really need a third reputation as a state that exploits children to advance the anti-gun agenda and other political issues possibly being drilled into the little head of the minor boy child candidate Ethan Sonneborn, age about 13 or 14; political issues preached to him possibly by his mother who may be a wanna-be stage Mom like so many mothers in Hollywood, California who will do almost anything, or anything, to get their kid on t.v.; or maybe lobbyists are wining and dining little minor boy child Ethan Sonneborn’s Momma and coaching her on how to fill his head up with political issues on their agenda.

Brattleboro Selectboard Meeting Notes – Ladder Truck Ordered, $32.5m Dairy Processing Plant Coming, Skatepark Update
It was a night of big things for the Brattleboro Selectboard – a big, new fire truck was ordered, and plans for a possible big $32.5m dairy processing facility were presented.
The board got an update on skatepark finances and schedule, tires in the wetlands will be cleaned up next fall, a letter about Act 46 stalled, the leaf pickup schedule is being re-examined, and goals and plans for the coming year were discussed. The board discussed energy matters, compassion, and diversity.
Oh, and for anyone seeking to get a message to Board Chair, don’t send email…
Facebook Knows Everything About You
Everyone knows Facebook is evil. After all, they single-handedly gave the election to Trump through their nefarious dealings with the Russians… Or at least, that’s what I hear. Whether or not Trump won because of targeted Facebook ads, Facebook did give up data on 85+ million people which is a lot. Moreover, their practice of making deals with “research companies” for Facebook data seems wide open for abuse. Who are these companies and what are they researching? Oh, right. Us.
Given how rotten and disgusting this whole episode was, you’d think some kind of slap on the wrist might be forthcoming for our favorite time suck. I’m going to go out on a limb here and say the opposite — not only is Facebook going to get away with their crummy business practices, but they’re actually going to get stronger as a result. Why, you might ask? Think about it — Congresscritters are not going to regulate the golden goose of voter targeting.
Shoot the Moon Theater Company presents “The Glass Menagerie”
Shoot The Moon Theater Company opens its 2018 season with a production of “The Glass Menagerie” at the Hooker-Dunham Theater, Friday through Sunday, May 4-6, and Thursday through Saturday May 10-12.
This 1944 memory play that established Tennessee Williams as a major literary voice continues to be a staple in the repertory of most theater companies, including regular productions on Broadway. But artistic director Josh Moyse admits the choice is uncharacteristic for Shoot The Moon, which has forged its reputation on original works and literary adaptations
“It almost feels like cheating. I turn the page and the words are already there,” says Moyse.
Cantrip and Lindsay Straw at Next Stage on Saturday, April 21
PUTNEY – Next Stage Arts Project and Twilight Music present an evening of traditional and contemporary Celtic music featuring high energy bagpipes/fiddle/guitar trio Cantrip and folksinger/multi-instrumentalist Lindsay Straw at Next Stage on Saturday, April 21 at 7:30 pm. The concert celebrates Cantrip’s 20th anniversary, with the band performing a mix of brand new music, as well as their entire 2001 album “Silver.”
From the strong base of its Celtic roots, Cantrip branches out into the music of other European cultures. Weaving together songs and tunes, Dan Houghton, Jon Bews and Eric McDonald take an audience on a cultural journey, putting their own spin on each style. Known for their innovative arrangements, un-produced sound and dry wit, Cantrip has toured throughout Scotland and the US, expanding the boundaries of Celtic music along the way.

The name of the program is now Master of Arts in Teaching: Learning Design and Technology. This is the standard name for most programs like this.

As President of AFSCME Local 1343 and as Vice President of the Vermont AFL-CIO, I take the rights of working people seriously. Like most Vermonters, I believe our democracy is best served when workers have more (not less) opportunities to vote on the issues which directly impact their lives. I myself labor for the Burlington School District as part of their maintenance staff. My fellow union members serve as custodians, bus drivers, food service workers, as IT specialists, and in number of other critical positions. In short, we are the backbone of public services. As a union member I take pride in the fact we democratically elect the bargaining teams that negotiate our contracts, and no contract is final until it is voted on by our members and approved by elected representatives of our communities. This, in part, is what it means to have workplace democracy, and this is a right that many generations of Vermonters have benefited from.
