I thought it might be fun to tell you about a project (in-progress!) I’m working on with the Brattleboro Historical Society. It’s an exhibit all about Brattleboro that will be on display at the Vermont Historical Society in Montpelier, from August to January.
BHS hired me on to do exhibit design and project manage, two things I enjoy doing. I also love Brattleboro history.

The Red Sox Foundation invites local residents to vote for their favorite non-profit in the the fourth annual “IMPACT” Awards. The awards provide Red Sox fans in the five New England states surrounding Massachusetts with the opportunity to vote to decide which organizations will be awarded grants. Starting this year, the IMPACT Awards will highlight a different charitable mission each year, with 2018 focusing on non-profits dedicated to improving social justice, diversity, and inclusion in New England communities.
Anyone know why the Brattleboro Retreat employees were out protesting today?
Utilities crews are still working on repairing the water main break on John Seitz Dr (Exit One Industrial Park.) During this work, it is necessary to shut off water service to Old Guilford Rd and the I91 Guilford Welcome Center. Utilities crews are on the scene working to fix the issue and restore water service to the affected area as soon as possible. It is estimated that the water service should be back in service within 2-3 hours. We apologize again for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience while we work to fix the problem.
Imagine before each match of the World Cup the FIFA World Soccer Federation making an appeal over the loud speaker asking all the fans in the name of the future of soccer to tell officials of their government to demand Americans stop threatening the future of the World Cup with nuclear war. Soccer stars President of Liberia & UN Good Will Ambassador George Weah and world #1 Diego Maradona to lead FIFA’s appeal.

Two things that have been with me all of my life are going away as July starts, and I’m happy to bid them adieu.
The first is plastic shopping bags. Brattleboro is banning single-use plastic bags (under 2.25 mil) as of July 1. In a world full of plastic bags, our impact may be like a small drop in a big pond, but our drop can cause ripples.
With the arrival of Spring at our house, we become like the Russians who throw their doors and windows open to the fresh air as soon as it warms up. We go outside a lot, for no particular reason. Stroll up and down the driveway, perhaps, or check on the transplants in the side yard. Pull a weed or two, contemplate the grass that probably needs mowing.
