Administrative Matters and New Business
The Brattleboro Selectboard will continue to review FY22 proposed budgets for the Parking and Utilities Funds at their next regular meeting. Either or both may be adopted.
The board will also buy two new dump trucks, discuss placement of a ski jumper sculpture on Main Street during winter months, figure out details of dependent care reimbursement for themselves, and consider buying a summer sidewalk tractor. You can bring up other items not on the agenda during public participation.

Are the daily summaries still useful to you? The numbers are going down in general, but they aren’t at zero and new variants are making their way through the system. When should I stop summarizing the data?
I was thinking that perhaps if we hit zero cases in Vermont for 5 days in a row, that could be a signal to call it quits. But NH still has a pretty high transmission rate (around 3%), and MA isn’t at zero yet, either though their numbers have impressively declined.

The first floor (lower level) of the Brattleboro Transportation Center (parking garage) will be closed for three weeks from Sunday, May 16 through Saturday, June 5, 2021, in order to make repairs to that floor of the structure. The Flat Street entrance/exit to the Transportation Center will be closed to all traffic. Vehicles will be allowed to enter and exit through the Elliot Street entrance only. All vehicles must be removed from the first floor of the BTC by 9:00pm on Saturday, May 15, 2021.

Has anyone else had a VW Jetta with electrical problems? ie, the headlights come on by themselves, or the daytime running lights, or the plate light, or the seat belt warning comes on when you are buckled in. How did you resolve it, where did you take the car for repair? What did you pay? Were you satisfied with the repair work? Thanks.

The fourth installment of the 2020 Real Estate and Personal Property Taxes will be due on May 17, 2021 by 5:00 PM. Payments made after May 17, 2020 will have an additional 1% interest, as well as an 8% penalty added to the unpaid balance.
The Town of Brattleboro utility bills are also due on May 17, 2021. Payments made after May 17, 2021 will have an additional 1% interest, as well as an 8% penalty, added to the unpaid balance.

Brattleboro VFW Breakfast special for Wednesday May 12th will be a waffle with strawberries and whipped cream for $5.50. Breakfast is served from 6am-10am. Public welcome, as are to-go’s.
$7 lunch special for Thursday May 13th will be chicken fettucine alfredo with a salad.
$7 lunch special for Friday May 14th will be goulash with a salad.
Brattleboro will soon be going through a public process to determine how to spend over $3 million in ARPA funding. The selectboard will be setting up a process for gathering ideas and suggestions, evaluating them, and deciding what to do. They will be looking for items that give the greatest long-term benefit to Brattleboro.
As the Lorax would say, “I’d like to speak for the trees.”
I’m not sure what the right amount is, but for argument’s sake I’d like to suggest $100k be spent on shade trees. Few things would give longer-lasting benefits to the town.

NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC
Tuesday, May 11 and Wednesday, May 12, DMI Paving (a contractor of the town) will be patching Western Avenue between Melrose ST and Meadowbrook Rd. The work is expected to take place between 7 am and 5 pm.
(Rain date: Thursday, May 13 and Friday, May 14)
Motorists should expect delays in the area and seek alternate routes during these days.
